This course is designed to provide participants with the skills and knowledge required to perform a rescue from live low voltage (LV) electrical apparatus using a Low Voltage Rescue Kit in an electrical industry environment. It includes the organisational workplace requirements for the inspection and use of live LV panel rescue equipment, and how it applies to electricity supply industry (ESI) workers and/or electrical industry workers to meet work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS), mobility and mutual aid requirements.Participants will also learn how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on a person who is unconscious and not breathing normally in line with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.Course Content:Identifying organisational rescue requirementsIdentifying hazards, assessing risks and applying control measuresIdentifying the isolation pointConfirming voltage(s) and related safe approach distance(s)Obtaining and inspecting rescue equipmentFitting of rescue personal protective equipment (PPE)Performing a rescue from a live low voltage (LV) panel in accordance with workplace requirementsDRSABCD action planManaging the unconscious breathing casualtyCardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) stepsDemonstration and use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)AssessmentThis course includes the following competency-based assessments: A Theory Assessment with multiple choice and short answer questionsPractical Assessment, with tasks including:Perform a simulated rescue from a live low voltage (LV) panel in accordance with workplace requirementsPerform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) (5 cycles of both compressions and ventilations) on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floorPerform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer CPR (5 cycles of both compressions and ventilations) on an infant resuscitation manikin placed on a firm surfaceFollow single rescue procedure including the demonstration of a rotation of operators with minimal interruptions to compressionsFollow the prompts of an automated external defibrillator (AED)

The aim of this course, a pre-requisite to obtaining a licence, is to train persons who intend to operate wireline logging equipment, in principles of radiation safety. Operators are required to hold a licence in compliance with State Legislation.Area of Industry Served:Any application involving density and moisture content indication down logging holes.Course Pre-Requisites:Minimum 3 months logging training experience under a licenced person.

This course is recognised by the Victorian Department of Health as an approved training course for obtaining a radiation use license for fluoroscopy. The course includes a basic introduction to radiation and the related risks. This course will provide participants with an in depth description of how X-rays are produced, and the technologies and techniques associated with fluoroscopy that may be utilised to optimise image quality whilst reducing patient and staff dose.

This three and a half day Fixed Gauges course otherwise known as the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) course is designed to equip the candidate to effectively manage all aspects as required for the safe use fixed radiation sources.Upon successful completion of the course exam, learners will be able to:Apply for Western Australian License for Fixed Gauges from the WA Radiological Council which is a pre-requisite for the appointment of site Radiation Safety Officer (RSO)Supervise any unlicensed technical personnel, employee or contractor working in the vicinity of a Fixed Radiation GaugeSupervise any unlicensed technical personnel or workers involved in installation, removal of a Fixed Radiation GaugeComply with the Statutory Requirements with regards to use, storage and transportation Fixed Gauges in Western AustraliaCarry out Fixed Gauges inspection, maintenance, collection of wipe test samples and test radiation level around or in the vicinity of Fixed GaugesAble to work confidently and competently in the vicinity of a Fixed Radiation GaugeAble to calibrate or isolate Fixed GaugesPrepare Work Instructions/Radiation Management Plan and Emergency ProcedureMaintain site radiation store in compliance with the Regulatory Guidelines

The one-day Portable Radiation Gauges course has been structured as an independent set of modules with no prerequisites. Following an introduction to various aspects of radiation, the course progresses through principles and practices related to portable radiation gauges. The course is suitable for those persons having no previous experience or to those applying for QLD user licence.

The 1-day Principles of Radiation Safety and Cabinet X-Ray Systems course has been structured as an independent set of modules with no prerequisites. Following an introduction to various aspects of radiation, the course progresses through principles and practices related to management and use of cabinet X-ray devices. The course is suitable for persons having no previous experience, and for those requiring refresher training.

The one-day refresher course is designed to provide the RSO and licensed radiation workers with information necessary to update their knowledge regarding radiation dose calculations, dose limits, current radiation safety legislation. Relevant information concerning X-ray Analysis equipment, safe work procedures, maintenance and legal obligations will be discussed.

The one-day refresher course is designed to provide the RSO and licensed radiation workers with information necessary to update their knowledge regarding radioactivity and radiation dose rate calculations, dose limits, current radiation safety legislation and transport regulations. Relevant information concerning various industrial gauges, safe work procedures, maintenance and legal obligations will be discussed.

This course is designed for initial and refresher RSO training where fixed nuclear gauges are employed.  Trainees are taught the hazards associated with radioactive materials and become familiar with all the regulations. The course includes basic radiation safety, dose calculations, radiation protection program elements, regulatory inspections, licensing, emergency actions, radioactive material accountability, leak testing, maintenance, transportation, waste management, and the duties & responsibilities of an RSO.

Upon successful completion of this course, learners will be able to:Take part in the Radiological Council of WA qualifying examinations and apply for Western Australian License (subject to passing the examinations) for using the X-ray Analysis Diamond Sorting equipment which is a pre-requisite for the appointment of site Radiation Safety Officer (RSO).Supervise directly any unlicensed technical personnel, employee or contractor working with the X-ray Analysis Diamond Sorting equipment.Operate competently and confidently an X-ray Analysis Diamond Sorting equipment and perform restricted service (as per license conditions).Prepare Work Instructions/Radiation Management Plan and Emergency Procedure in compliance with the applicable Code of Practice.

The aim of this course, a pre-requisite to obtaining a licence, is to train persons who intend to perform services on industrial equipment that produces x-ray radiation, in principles of radiation safety. Personnel who perform restricted services are required to hold a licence in compliance with State Legislation.Area of Industry Served:Any industrial application using XRF, XRD or diamond sorting equipment.Upon successful completion of this course, learners:Should be able to successfully pass the *Radiological Council’s qualifying examination conducted by SGS Radiation ServicesWill possess the skills and knowledge to safely operate x-ray equipment without sustaining any clinical biological effects and minimise the hazard to themselves, other workers and member of the public* Please note that the examination is set by and marked by the WA Radiological Council who will directly advise the participant of their mark. Licences are issued only by the WA Radiological Council.
