Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (AIAG/VDA version) Training Course Automotive

Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (AIAG/VDA version) Training Course
Customers are placing increased demands on companies for high quality, reliable products. The increasing capabilities and functionality of many products are making it more difficult for manufacturers to maintain the quality and reliability. Traditionally, reliability has been achieved through extensive testing and use of techniques such as probabilistic reliability modeling. These are techniques done in the late stages of development.  The challenge is to design in quality and reliability early in the development cycle. Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) is methodology for analyzing potential reliability problems early in the development cycle where it is easier to take actions to overcome these issues, thereby enhancing reliability through design. FMEA is used to identify potential failure modes, determine their effect on the operation of the product, and identify actions to mitigate the failures. A crucial step is anticipating what might go wrong with a product. While anticipating every failure mode is not possible, the development team should formulate as extensive a list of potential failure modes as possible. The early and consistent use of FMEA in the design process allows the engineer to design out failures and produce reliable, safe, and customer pleasing products. FMEA also capture historical information for use in future product improvement. Types of FMEA There are several types of FMEA; some are used much more often than others are. FMEA should always be done whenever failures would mean potential harm or injury to the user of the end item being designed. The types of FMEA are: System - focuses on global system functions Design - focuses on components and subsystems Process - focuses on manufacturing and assembly processes Service - focuses on service functions Software - focuses on software functions

Calibration & Metrology Training Course
This training course allows participants to recognize the technicalities of calibration and metrology, and appreciate the basic ISO 9000 requirements on equipment and instrument calibrations. Registration and Course Introduction Introduction, Fields, Specialist Areas and Types of Metrology Definition and Type of Measurements SI Base and Coherent Units Is Calibration =  Adjustment = Verification ? Reference Standards and Reference Materials Calibration Frequency Elements of an Equipment Calibration System Traceability in Calibration Consideration of Calibration Conditions Typical Measurement Equipment Errors and their Corrections Characteristics of a Calibration Specialist Accuracy, Tolerance, Specification and Deviation Understanding of Full / Partial / Conditional Calibrations Accreditation Scheme – SAC-SINGLAS & ISO17025:2005 Approved Signatory Consideration of Sub-Contracting Jobs About the Endorsed and Non-Endorsed Calibrations Introduction to Measurement Uncertainty – Expanded Uncertainty and Coverage Factor based on SAC-SINGLAS Technical Guide 1, 2nd Edition   Calibration is a protracted work related to maintenance. It must be regularly undertaken on every field instrument in order to ensure smooth functioning and adhere to any regulations. Almost all calibration laboratories' quality systems fulfill the standards set by ISO/IEC 17025:2005, and include all functions that have an impact on the attribute of the 17025 calibration service, like equipment, personnel, calibration procedures and reporting. An integral part of establishing traceability is evaluation of measurement uncertainty.   Metrology (from greek 'metron' (measure), and -logy) is the science of measurement. Metrology includes all theoretical and practical aspects of measurement, including precision calibration and inspection. It can involve cmm or Coordinate Measurement Machines. Traceability is most often obtained by calibration, establishing the relation between the indication of a measuring instrument and the value of a measurement standard.
