All electrical work, including repair, installation and alteration is to be undertaken strictly in accordance with the Work Health and Safety (Mines and Petroleum Sites) Regulation 2022 and associated Australian standards and site standards of engineering practice. This course is designed to provide participants with the skills and knowledge required to perform a rescue from live low voltage (LV) electrical apparatus using a Low Voltage Rescue Kit in an electrical industry environment. It includes the organisational workplace requirements for the inspection and use of live LV panel rescue equipment, and how it applies to electricity supply industry (ESI) workers and/or electrical industry workers to meet work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS), mobility and mutual aid requirements.Participants will also learn how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on a person who is unconscious and not breathing normally in line with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.Course Content:Identifying organisational rescue requirementsIdentifying hazards, assessing risks and applying control measuresIdentifying the isolation pointConfirming voltage(s) and related safe approach distance(s)Obtaining and inspecting rescue equipmentFitting of rescue personal protective equipment (PPE)Performing a rescue from a live low voltage (LV) panel in accordance with workplace requirementsDRSABCD action planManaging the unconscious breathing casualtyCardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) stepsDemonstration and use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)AssessmentThis course includes the following competency-based assessments: A Theory Assessment with multiple choice and short answer questionsPractical Assessment, with tasks including:Perform a simulated rescue from a live low voltage (LV) panel in accordance with workplace requirementsPerform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) (5 cycles of both compressions and ventilations) on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floorPerform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer CPR (5 cycles of both compressions and ventilations) on an infant resuscitation manikin placed on a firm surfaceFollow single rescue procedure including the demonstration of a rotation of operators with minimal interruptions to compressionsFollow the prompts of an automated external defibrillator (AED)
